In the heart of the Italian Alps, at an altitude of 1000 metres, this delightful wooden chalet is located in the middle of a beautiful meadow and surrounded by the Tarvisio Forest. The unique location is perfect for those who love and respect the peace of the mountains.
The chalet can be reached by car from the village of Camporosso in Valcanale following a partly paved dirt road for 5 kilometres, which plunges into the deep alpine forest and follows the banks of the Bartolo torrent. The town of Tarvisio is only 8 kilometres away. The Austrian border can be reached on foot in 15 minutes.
The Bartolo Valley is one of the most popular hiking routes in the area, characterised by the peaceful atmosphere created by the wide meadows surrounded by deep forests.

Outside
Baita Salman is located in the heart of the Val Bartolo. The unique valley is characterised by wide meadows surrounded by the lush Tarvisio forest, once the imperial hunting reserve of Franz Joseph I of Austria. The valley is crossed by a partly paved dirt road that follows the banks of the Bartolo stream. Baita Salman can be easily reached by car following the road. Along the valley, there are other wooden huts, usually occupied sporadically.
The unique location is the ideal starting point for hikes or mountain bike rides to reach the peaks of the surrounding Italian and Austrian mountains. The Austrian border is only 500 metres away. At the beginning of the road that leads to the hut, it is possible to join the Alpe Adria cycle route, through which you can reach Slovenia, Austria and the Friuli's plains and hills.
Inside
The delightful interior of the Baita Salman is a perfect blend of the original wooden walls from the 1800s and modern alpine furnishings. The chalet consists of a fully equipped modern kitchen, a typical Friulian spôlert (wood-burning brick hob), which overlooks the dining room furnished in alpine style, a living room with two single sofa beds and a loft bedroom upstairs, with one kingsize and one single bed. The bathroom, on the ground floor, is equipped with a toilet, washbasin, shower and bidet. The kitchen is equipped with a gas stove, an outside gas fridge, complete cookware and tableware. The Friulian spôlert also serves as a fireplace to heat the entire hut. Firewood to fuel the spôlert is available to guests and is stored in the woodshed, which is located at the back of the hut.
The domestic utilities are powered by the diesel-powered electric generator, that can be switched on at the customer's request for some hours during the day. The lighting is powered by solar panels installed on the roof of the chalet.
The walls are characteristic of the alpine environment.

Trekking: numerous trekking routes for all levels, such as Monte Lussari, Monte Acomizza (continuing along the Val Bartolo road), the Jôf di Montasio, the Cima Cacciatori, and many others.
Cycling: in addition to the Alpe Adria cycle route, which extends from the base of the Val Bartolo for many kilometres to Kranjska Gora in Slovenia and Lake Bled, to Villach in Austria and along the whole Friulian plain, there are numerous well-known mountain bike routes in all the surrounding areas.
Skiing: the area is well equipped for the ski season with the ski resorts of Tarvisio, Monte Lussari, Kranjska Gora, Sella Nevea and many others just a few kilometres away.
Climbing and mountaineering: in the area there are many majestic peaks for those who love the most authentic mountains, such as Mount Bila Pec, Mount Mangart, and many others.
Lakes: there are the suggestive lakes of Fusine connected by a cycle path and trekking route, snd the equipped Predil lake where you can do many activities such as windsurfing, pedal boat rental and many others.
Adventure park: there is Sella Nevea adventure park a few kilometres away, especially suitable for children.
Other activities: reachable by car are the golden beaches of Lignano Sabbiadoro, the cities of Venice, Trieste, Udine, Villach and many others.
